She has also assisted on local video projects, with groups such as Women of Denver, professional networking for women in the Denver area, and The African Community Center, helping with the youth program, International C.I.T.Y., an after school program for refugee students, and the PBS series, Children of the World. This kind of community work is fuel for her passion in research about Decolonization and her quest to understand her Filipino roots. This is inspiration behind her work to make documentaries on such subjects. Monica has also been part of the volunteer Video Editing team for Denver Comic Con in the past.
