YUMN is a casual, luxury restaurant located within Croydon’s Boxpark, a pop-up mall for independent and global fashion and lifestyle stores, cafés and restaurants, housed within converted shipping containers.
The logomark formed from moving the original Brasserie branding forward, making it cleaner, sharper and a more recognisable brand. The roundel, which stemmed from the act of eating, created a modern feel and became a versatile device for the application of the identity.
The supporting brand pattern is a graphic representation of a wall detail from the original brasserie. Working with retail design company Metamorphosis, we used the pattern to create a synergy between the brand identity and the restaurant interior - applying it to menus, window manifestations and a feature wall.
The project was featured on BP&O, and also became a case study used by its founder, Richard Baird, for a number of talks around the theme of materiality in branding.

The launch of a new creative and cultural live events space in London, part of London’s new Outernet district.
The brand mark derives from the geographical location of the venue, which lies between two buildings and down four storeys. The vertical positioning of the logotype reiterates the downwards narrative throughout the identity.

A public garden, retail, food and events destination.
Drawing on the ‘Rediscovered Reinvented’ copy from the brand platform, created through the initial naming and strategy meetings. The logotype has a modern, bold feel, whilst the ordinal indicator within it harks back to the history of the garden and doubles down on the numerical aspect of the brand name. The stacked typographic structure was drawn from the vertical rectangular shape of the walled garden itself.
Since its opening in 2021, it has become one of Brighton’s most popular destinations, and won the Sussex Heritage Trust Award in 2022.
