/Root_Of_All_Evil was my first major project working as a sound designer and composer. This was a project completed for the Glasgow Caledonian University Global Game Jam 2023, where the theme was “Roots.” We decided that to fit this theme, we would build a game around computing systems, mainly the concept of file pathing and root files.

For the composition, I wanted to incorporate elements of cyberpunk styling, focusing more on utilising synthetic instruments and invoking a feeling of nostalgia through sweeping synth drones and artificial drums. The tone shifts to a more darker sound for the second track, focusing heavily on the bass register to invoke the feeling that you’re doing something you’re not supposed to.

You can view the game on the GGJ23 page here - https://v3.globalgamejam.org/2023/games/rootofallevil-0

This project was created during the Glasgow Caledonian University Global Game Jam 2025. The theme for this game jam was “Bubble,” so the team that I was a part of decided to create a game about preventing a cauldron from boiling over by using potions kept within a witches pantry.

My involvement with the project was as the sole sound designer and composer. For the soundtrack, I wanted to focus on more acoustic instruments rather than synths and electric instruments, as I felt that it would better fit the tone of a rustic cottage. The sound effects used also match this, with the only true modulation being reverb to simulate the high roof within the building.

The game can be found on the Global Game Jam 2025 site here - https://globalgamejam.org/games/2025/toil-and-bubble-9

Below is also a short demonstration of the game that I uploaded.
