I am Ptolemaios Armaos, a guitarist, multi-instrumentalist, arranger and composer. I create works for guitar and larger ensembles, shaping my personal style by mixing rock, experimental classical, and traditional music while exploring a wide range of instruments.
I studied classical guitar at the Athens Conservatory under Elena Papandreou, earned my bachelor’s and master’s degrees at the Cologne University of Music and Dance under Roberto Aussel, and completed a Master’s in chamber music with Hans-Werner Huppertz. I received scholarships from the Achillopoulion Foundation and the Onassis Foundation. I’ve earned awards in international competitions both solo and with groups, including the Cologne Guitar Quartet (1st prize for interpretation of modern music, Karlsruhe, 2015) and the Armaos Rastani duo (Creole World Music). I work professionally inside and outside Europe, collaborating with renowned musicians and orchestras. As a solo artist I have released several singles, and with the Cologne Guitar Quartet I released two CDs: Phasma and Routes, featuring contemporary works and songs from different cultures.
