I am an experienced freelance illustrator, with the simplicity of an idea and its execution being at the core of my work. My aim is to create engaging and unexpected concepts for diverse audiences, from adults to children. I graduated in illustration from Falmouth School of Art and joined a graphic communications agency based in London, to get experience of the creative industry and working within a team. This allowed me to develop skills in graphic design, and over time led me to manage the creative output as creative director. I focused on illustration after moving to the coast and became a freelance illustrator in 2009. I have over 10 years of working for clients on commissions and pride myself on being efficient and responsive. I am also very adept at creating assets that fit with any existing house style and guidelines. I’ve worked on editorial, advertising and publishing projects, for clients including Air France / BlackRock / Boeing / Dell / Deloitte / Harvard Business Review / Johns Hopkins University / KPMG / Microsoft / New Scientist / Scholastic / Scientific American Mind / Times Educational Supplement / Wall Street Journal / Washington Post. I also publish my own range of children’s books which I originate, design, illustrate and manage the print. They have been translated into 17 languages and twice nominated for the Kate Greenaway Medal for illustration, shortlisted for the Best British Book Design Awards and the German Youth Literature Prize.
