I am an eternal dance of transformation—a product of diverse origins, woven as a distinct thread within the tapestry of the U.S.–Mexico border.

I move through life to the rhythm and beat of cumbi*—an echoing heartbeat that defines my journey as a fronteriza.

Her purpose lies in deconstructing the fronteriza identity—venturing into obscure and transformative spaces where dispossession, geography, ritual, and the shadows of violence converge. I embrace unfinishedness, mistranslation, multivocality (having multiple voices), ambiguity, and playfulness.

My work often incorporates water, clay, and seeds to create a visceral embodiment of stuck-ness—a sensation that arises when internal or external borders are touched. It is a palpable reminder of constraint, inertia, and potential. My practice includes deep listening, long city walks, observing silence, meditating, and moving—rituals that prime my body to remain open throughout the creative process.

Constellations

"Constellations" is a 45 minute political performance work in progress that uses absurdism and illogical narrative to understand the term "Mexican" and pinpoint the origin of "our" race. We embark on a musical journey of cumbia rebajadas that ask you: Do you treat the history of your skin with irony? Have you ever thought of your moles as stars that carry the energy of an inherited past? How do you give the stories that live in your genes a shape, sound, and color? Ultimatelty we tell stories of love, revolution and trade in a Mexico marked by racism and colonization.
