The French language is a veritable zoo! Especially when it comes to describing animals and critters. La langue au chat et autres poèmes pas bêtes is a collection of 21 new poems featuring animals, whether they meow, howl, or coo!
The duo François Gravel and Laurent Pinabel are back with this second collection of humorous poetry. They explore the theme of animals with the same sharp and offbeat wit that characterized Branchez-vous ! et autres poèmes biscornus.

David Goudreault’s Quebec slam poem “J’en appelle à la poésie,” featured on the album Le nouveau matériel (2020), is one of the first two texts in the collection to be published. In it, the author declares the urgent need to integrate poetry into all spheres of society. Illustrator Laurent Pinabel (*Branchez-vous ! ) offers a vibrant, intelligent, and multifaceted interpretation of the author’s words. Thus, the unique verbal and visual expressiveness of these two creators delivers a powerful and oh-so-necessary work to readers.
