Seeds of Light: Grandmother and Child Garden Storybook Spread

Some picture books are remembered for one quiet moment between two characters. This spread is built around that moment: a grandmother and her granddaughter kneeling in a dusk garden, planting glowing seeds into dark soil.
I used light to carry the story. Each seed glows gold, so the eye travels from the grandmother’s hand to the child’s smile and across the garden bed. Behind them, a lit cottage window, a lantern, a village by the lake, and a sunset sky in orange and violet frame the scene. Small details reward a second look: a sleeping cat on the stone wall, a robin on the watering can, and fireflies drifting through the flowers.
Made as a concept illustration to show how I handle warm, multi-generational characters, layered depth, and a mood strong enough to open a chapter or sit on a cover.
