This rebrand for New Life Young Adults was inspired by 1950’s signage layouts and typography, with color pallet and image inspiration from Wes Anderson. Creative direction for branding was given by the young adult pastor, creative pastor, and myself. This rebrand was utilized in promotional material such as signage, print marketing, social media graphics, and more for NLYA’s biggest event of the year, One Night, their on-campus conference for incoming freshmen.
My role – Graphic Designer: Brand application, layout, signage and merch designs
Created in collaboration with the New Life creative team and our creative pastor, Zach Zamora

Overview
For this poster ad series, I wanted to focus on what makes Owala water bottles unique from every other water bottle brand, and bring this message across with a strategic headline/tagline and unique visual style. Owala engineers their bottles to make the drinking experience as easy and user-friendly as possible, with a sip/slurp top and simple bold colorways that feel custom but not distracting. Thinking about how humans need water just like plants do, I used visual metaphors in my illustrations to communicate how Owala keeps you thriving by staying watered.

This app integrates your weekly schedule in an easily shareable format so that you can send it to your friends and instantly see where your free time aligns with theirs. As you make plans or add things to your schedule, it will automatically update and notify anyone that is involved. Finally, you can find time for the people that matter to you!
Features:
• Highly customizable and color-coded calendar
• Bright and fun overall UX, gets you in the party mood and makes planning
a breeze
• Branding, copy, colors/visuals focused on making this app feel like a party
• Reminders for the extra-busy: friends you need to catch up with, events you previously planned, are invited to and more
• Privacy features to set boundaries for when you actually want to hang out, who you want to invite, and how much free time your friends see you have
• Easily find activities to do by seeing your friends interests
This app will make you love making plans with friends, even if you don’t like planning ahead, don’t like apps, and even if you don’t have too many friends (yet!). A highly customizable, simple, bright and fun user interface makes planning a breeze and gets you in the partying mood, especially with our highly integrated calendar (works across Google, Apple, and Outlook), autosuggested event and friend suggestions, social features that allow you to plan with friends right on the app, and much more.

For New Life Youth, I had the opportunity to do a re-brand for their ministry in preparation for one of their biggest events of the year, which is their summer camp. After launching these new graphics, this branding would be kept for the next year of content including screenslides, print marketing, signage, social media graphics, and more. This year’s branding was intended to be a little edgy and grungy, inspired by athletic wear ads from companies such as Nike and Adidas as well as branding from music artists such as Frank Ocean and Tyler, The Creator, in combination with imagery that reflected the coastal, youth-centered culture of our city.
My role – Graphic Designer: Branding, layout, photo treatment with overlays/textures

My client had a vision for a new logo/illustration to be printed on his custom surfboards that represented a tiger catching a lightning bolt - two symbols that have often been relevant to the values of his company and family. I used Procreate to illustrate this in a traditional tattoo style with stippling and color blocking, together with a more traditional/old fashioned type treatment as well. Overall I love contributing to the local surf community with my work and really enjoyed the execution of this project!
PROJECT TYPE: Catalog | 24 Pages

Overview
Carver is all about surfing, and every Carver board is designed to capture the flow and movement of the sport. Ridden by pro surfers for training as well as novice skateboarders, Carver has played a vital role in worldwide surf/skate culture since 1996. The purpose of this catalog is to provide new skaters and pros alike with all of Carver’s most popular skateboard series and products. Since Carver has never released a product catalog before, this project provided a unique opportunity to showcase their state-of-the-art skateboards and to stand apart from its competitors, who also don’t offer product catalogs.
Solution
In order to create a visually engaging catalog that not only showcased the products, the individual branding of their different skateboard lines, and captured the overall aesthetic of surf/skate culture that is at the heart of Carver’s brand, I created a visual system with colors and typefaces that hinted at the 1960’s, when surf/skate culture began to become popular, and images and layouts that captured movement and flow.

Client Overview:
– Cult following
– High quality, low prices
– Healthy, friendly, fun
– Niche, understated
Trader Joe’s has been transforming grocery shopping into a welcoming journey full of discovery and fun since 1967. They have garnered a cult following for their unique food products under the Trader Joe’s label, sold at surprisingly low prices due to their direct access to suppliers, as well as the helpful and outgoing attitude of their staff.
Target Audience:
– Gen Z, Millenial
– Adventurous, vibrant
– Social media shoppers
– Always hunting for new trends
– Shops for daily needs
Trader Joe’s has kept its loyal shoppers satisfied throughout the years with fresh, unique, and tasteful food items that could be found nowhere else. Yet, their branding doesn’t currently reflect those qualities, but is more of a hindrance to customers understanding why Trader Joe’s products are a must-buy. Trader Joe’s needs to adopt a visual style that is relevant to today’s consumers, which are Gen Z and Millennial shoppers that are health-focused and often looking online to discover trending brands. I created the branding and all collateral with this in mind.
Rebrand Goals:
– Stay recognizable
– Quirky, organic, legible
– Unify brand styles
– A flexible logomark

This illustration was created for merch for a local sunglasses company, with the vision of a motorcycle brand aesthetic combined with mythological-style sea imagery.
