The Challenge

Standard productivity tools often suffer from low long-term user retention. The goal for Ascend was to solve “productivity fatigue” by engineering a reward-loop system that utilizes positive reinforcement (EXP, currency, and leveling systems) to drive daily active usage (DAU).
The Solution

I developed a full-stack, mobile-first application that treats task completion as a verifiable transaction. I focused on building a robust backend architecture that ensures data integrity for user progress while delivering a high-motion, responsive UI that provides immediate visual feedback.

The Challenge

The original City of Vancouver municipal platform suffered from legacy architectural constraints, poor mobile responsiveness, and significant accessibility barriers for its 100k+ potential users. As a developer who designs, my goal was to transform a text-heavy, opaque dataset into a transparent, user-centric tool for monitoring transportation and sustainability targets.
The Solution

I orchestrated a comprehensive front-end overhaul, bridging high-fidelity Figma design systems with a performant React architecture. The core of the project involved replacing static reports with interactive ECharts dashboards that allow citizens to visualize real-time city indicators.
