I am Ricardo Severo, a composer, music producer, sound designer, librettist, and advertising professional. I specialize in sound dramaturgy and immersive sound, and I have earned more than 20 awards for my musical scores, including a Kikito at the Gramado Film Festival in 1995 for Deus Ex-Machina and the Shell Theater Award for Best Music in São Paulo in 2014 for Caros Ouvintes. My work spans Brazilian cinema, theater, and television, with collaborations across notable artists and productions. I also teach and research, focusing on the discourse of song lyrics and immersive sound design in theatre.
I’ve created original music for Brazilian artists and for theatre and cinema, including TV Globo telenovelas, the feature film Atena, and several documentaries. I co-wrote and produced the fiction podcast Science As It Is - The Saga of Carlota, and I teach Sound Dramaturgy and related topics at the SP School of Theater. I am currently pursuing a PhD in Music at USP, researching immersive sound design in theatre.
