    paper Oddbods

    Oddbods was an original idea I conceived back in 2010. From creating the initial designs and concepts - to writing multiple scripts, I was an integral part of the production.

    The versatility of the show spawned a multitude of formats, from 1-minute sketches to 30-minute seasonal specials, music videos and several online exercise classes for toddlers.

    As the library of work grew, so did the fanbase. As of writing, Oddbods has amassed over 35 million subscribers on its YouTube channels and a staggering 25 billion views. Surely there can’t be that many eyeballs in the world!

    Oddbods’ quality was recognized globally and earned three International Emmy nominations.

    paper Rob the Robot

    Rob the Robot was a Co-production between One Animation and Amberwood Studios, based in Canada.

    The show took its inspiration from a picture book created by John Magart. As the studio’s art director at the time, my job was to ‘reimagine’ the book’s original designs so they better suited a CG pipeline.

    With only a small production crew, we had to be mindful of how we treated those characters and environments so as to not put undue stress on our small team.

    I would go on to direct the second season and contribute several scripts to the fold.

    paper Insectibles

    This action/adventure show aimed to capture the goofy and grotesque nature of the insect world. We tried to maintain that macro level of detail that immersed the audience deep in the undergrowth along with our protagonists.

    For it’s time, Insectibles pushed the envelope in terms of its scope, design, and ambition and was often mistaken for a feature release when we first introduced the pilot episode at trade shows.

    paper Antiks

    This began as an experiment of sorts. The idea was to repurpose existing character assets from Insectibles and build a stand-alone show around them.

    Antiks is a show about two ant siblings, Joey and Boo -whose insatiable appetite sends them on a journey into the great unknown - where they learn to make sense of the big wide world at a grass-roots level.

    The show also served as an ideal platform for new artists joining the company to learn their trade - as it exposed them to the language of cinema - albeit at a micro level!

    This ‘experiment’ has since found an audience on YouTube and amassed 1.2 million subscribers at the time of writing.

    paper Hardboiled

    Part of my job as creative director was to explore and create new intellectual property, in addition to steering ongoing shows in production at that time.

    Hard Boiled is one such show that emerged from those brainstorming sessions - a show about a ham and an egg and a detective agency… Who doesn’t like ham and eggs?

    The show went through several iterations and two writing rooms yet never received the green light I believe it richly deserved…

    Benni, Hammond, Jorge, Suki, Rizzo - I loved seeing you guys come to life - may the world discover you one day!

    paper Abigail's Tales

    Abigail’s Tales was another show that went deep into development without ever receiving a green light, but like Hard Boiled, we came mighty close.

    The show’s goal was to help kids understand that there are often two sides to every story. In a world full of fake news, it felt like an interesting angle to explore.

    Inspired by a rich resource of established fairy tales, fables, and rhymes - ripe for modernizing and re-tooling, the show promised exciting new spins on well-known stories.
