Rick Mitchell is a writer and comedian in Los Angeles. He received his BA in Film and Media Studies from UC Davis — where film wasn't offered as a major, so he created his own. (Yeah... he created a major. And he's told it's legit.) He earned an MFA in Screenwriting from Loyola Marymount University and was selected for the Warner Bros. Comedy Writer's Workshop. He spent 8 seasons writing, producing, and appearing on TMZ, then 6 seasons writing for The Ellen DeGeneres Show, where he won 5 Daytime Emmys. He's performed stand-up at The Improv, The Punchline, and The Ice House, sharing stages with Sarah Silverman, Maria Bamford, and Emo Phillips. He co-wrote How to Write a Funny Speech with Carol Leifer, with a foreword by Carol Burnett. He also runs Funny Toast, a custom speechwriting service.
