Riley Runnells is a media professional with a portfolio spanning editorial, digital content creation, and podcast production. Currently serving as EPIC Toledo Director through the Toledo Regional Chamber of Commerce, Riley works to develop young professionals and further connect them to the Toledo community. In that spirit, Riley also co-hosts a bi-weekly podcast for WGTE Public Media called “On the Come Up with Libby and Riley,” featuring local Gen-Z professionals. Previously, Riley was an editor at Adams Street Publishing, managing the editorial and digital aspects of the Toledo City Paper, Mature Living magazine, and Findlay Living magazine. Before joining Adams Street Publishing, Riley made significant contributions as a writer for Static Media, where she created in-depth, research-driven stories on a weekly basis. Riley's editorial leadership was previously showcased as the editor in chief of Thread Magazine at Ohio University, where she led the creation of each semester's magazine issues, managed website content, and organized fundraising events. She also served as the Culture section editor for The Post newspaper in Athens, OH, and completed internships with WTOL-TV News, Los Angeles Magazine, PAPER magazine, and ProMedica. An Ohio University alumna with a bachelor’s degree in Journalism, Riley specialized in Women’s, Gender, and Sexuality Studies, Entertainment Journalism, and holds multiple certificates in LGBTQ+ Studies, Strategic Leadership, and Diversity Studies. Riley's work has been recognized with multiple Touchstone Awards from the Press Club of Toledo, as well as being named the E.W. Scripps School of Communication's Outstanding Senior in News and Information Track and a Los Angeles Press Club Arts & Entertainment Award. Outside of her work in media, Riley pursues her passion for connecting with the community by serving on the board of the Press Club of Toledo, Chicks for Charity, and Issue Box Theatre.
