Hey there! I'm Sam Howlett, a 26 yr old Aussie sound designer and composer who loves playing games, gaming and spending unseemly amounts of hours playing video games. My proficiency lays primarily in Wwise and its integration with Unity but I'm flexible and comfortable working in FMOD and Unreal, too. I have years experience working in ProTools, Ableton and Reaper, making sounds from Foley, working with a plethora of VSTs, sample libraries and live instrument recordings. I wouldn't ever say that my focus is directed to one particular genre of game or other. I jump between genres every time I finish something and more or less pick randomly from my seemingly infinite backlog of titles. I dream of making cozy game OSTs and cute little sound effects just as longingly as I do creating the clashing of blades and casting of spells. I'd love to talk more if you've enjoyed what I've said, I'm sure we can make something amazing together :)

uniE608 A Short Hike - Sam Howlett Sound Design
This is a sound design that I made for the trailer for A Short Hike. I did everything you hear in this video and that means that every sound is made through Foley, without a single instance of using a sound library. I enjoyed this constraint as it forced me to come up with creative ways to make everything work. I love this game deeply and must add that my work on this trailer was purely for educational purposes and I have absolutely no affiliation with the creation or creators of it.
uniE608 Caminandes - Sam Howlett Sound Design
Just like my sound design for A Short Hike, every sound in this video was created through Foley and my own composition and voice acting. There were a few challenging sound to make in this video and it was very fulfilling to rise to it!
