Sergio Figueiredo

Serve as a member of the department’s Advisory Council and represent the FYC program on the University’s General Education Council. Organize and implement program assessment related to the new USG IMPACTS Core Curriculum. Lead faculty development, new faculty orientations, and mentoring across campuses. Organize professional development opportunities and lead the Composition Committee to oversee governance, curriculum, policies, and resources. Collaborate on course schedules and execute USG initiatives related to FYC. Advise on student issues, screen and recommend candidates, and serve on TA Committee.

Teach undergraduate and graduate courses in English, rhetoric, composition, and digital rhetoric with a focus on comics and graphic storytelling. Advise students, supervise graduate directed studies, and chair capstone committees. Participate in curriculum development, faculty mentoring, departmental governance, and scholarly research on media rhetoric, digital humanities, and graphic narratives.

Chair the department’s Advisory Council and schedule general education and undergraduate course offerings. Coordinate with other program directors on schedules and cross-listed courses. Provide advising support and review academic approvals. Support faculty performance reviews, coordinate academic program review, strategic planning, hiring, and scheduling initiatives. Serve as Acting Chair when necessary.
