I’m Sam Keedy, a composer, professional musician, and mixing and mastering engineer, based in New York. I work with artists who want their music to feel polished, modern, and emotionally impactful—without losing the character that makes it theirs. My background spans both the creative and technical sides of music. I’ve spent the last decade working in professional studios and live performance settings as a trombonist, composer, arranger, and engineer. I’ve mixed and engineered projects across hip hop, R&B, jazz, and contemporary commercial music, and my work has been released on independent and major-label adjacent projects. Along the way, I’ve collaborated with Grammy-winning artists, major ensembles, and indie creators alike. In addition to freelance work, I’ve served as a studio engineer and graduate teaching assistant at the University of Miami’s Frost School of Music, where I ran recording sessions, engineered mixes in Pro Tools and Logic Pro, and developed a deep ear for balance, translation, and musical intention. That experience trained me to listen critically, work efficiently under deadlines, and deliver results that hold up across systems—from headphones to cars to club speakers. What sets me apart is that I approach mixing as a musician first. I care deeply about feel, groove, and emotion, not just technical correctness. I specialize in vocal-forward mixes with strong low-end control, clarity, and bounce—especially in hip hop and R&B contexts—but I’m equally focused on serving the song and the artist’s vision. I communicate clearly, welcome feedback, and treat every project like a collaboration rather than a transaction. If you’re looking for someone who understands both the art and the craft—and who’s invested in making your music sound its best—I’d love to work together.
