To mark the 40th anniversary of Portugal joining CERN, a commemorative branding project was developed to graphically represent this connection.
The symbol highlights LIP’s role in this collaboration and highlights Portugal’s contribution to international scientific research.

Branding project developed for the Laboratory of Instrumentation and Experimental Particle Physics (LIP), focused on updating and consolidating the institution’s visual identity.
The work involved a historical analysis of the logo, the identification of technical and communication limitations, and the development of a new graphic proposal capable of reflecting the scientific and technological evolution of LIP.
The proposal maintained the symbolic connection to the original logo, simplifying shapes and enhancing legibility, while defining consistent visual bases for different media—digital, editorial, and institutional—contributing to a more unified, modern image that is representative of the laboratory’s scientific mission.
