In Fall 2025, I recorded and mixed a set of in-progress songs with Bubblebeam at the University of Rochester as my senior capstone. I wanted to capture the band the way they actually sounded, lively takes, real raw energy.
We tracked through a 32-channel API 1608 II. For guitars, I used a taped-together SM57 + KM184 plus DI so the tone stayed aggressive but still easy to shape later. The drum sound came from solid close mics (57 snare top, MD421 snare bottom, D4s on rack toms) with C414 overheads and PZM room mics to keep the kit feeling big and “in the room.” Vocals were mostly an SM58 for a raw live feel, and on “Green Leaf Station” we used a U67 for a more intimate campfire vibe. Acoustic guitar was tracked with an AT5045.
I did the sound design of a trailer for a final project.
I make and mix electronic music from time to time under the name Ctoine;
