Khai Petersen, also known as Stada Don, has a story deeply rooted in the
vibrant culture of St. Croix in the U.S. Virgin Islands. From an early age, music
was not just a hobby for him; it was a way of life. Saturday mornings became a ritual where the sound
system would drown out the cartoons, filling the room with reggae, or salsa, and
merengue. This early exposure ignited Khai’s appreciation for music across
genres. His older brothers influenced his musical taste significantly. One brother introduced him to R&B and dancehall, while the other
immersed him in hip-hop.
As time went on, Khai’s passion for music evolved. Khai took a significant step forward by diving into
music production. He started with his brother’s Boss Dr. Rhythm 550 drum
machine and a keyboard, laying the foundation for his future as an artist and
producer. Stada Don’s journey is a testament to how passion, family, and
perseverance can shape a musical career.
