Stewart Nelsen is a cinematographer / editor based in Durham, North Carolina. He received his training in filmmaking while a student in the graduate program at the University of Iowa. Upon completion, he moved to Los Angeles where he worked for three decades, earning an Emmy Award in the process. Throughout his career, Stewart has contributed to film and television productions ranging from studio releases to independent projects. His versatility in the various roles involved with media creation, from pre-planning to production and post, make him a multi faceted filmmaker. He has built up a clientele of diverse storytellers who can attest to his skill as a valued collaborator. In addition to his professional work, Stewart has taught digital filmmaking to students at the Carolina Friends School and with the summer program hosted by the public access station in Durham.
