I am a theatre artist-scholar and educator with a PhD in Theatre Studies at LSU, with an MA from the University of Chicago and a BA from Texas A&M University. My scholarship centers performance studies, historiography, and Womanist/Feminist Theory, with a focus on Black women’s dramatic praxis and the ways performance can function as research. I am developing a form of playwriting that blends scholarship with performance to contextualize Black womanhood in higher education and beyond. Beyond the academy, I create and perform original pieces, mentor emerging artist-scholars, and share my work through guest lectures, residencies, and community engagements. My practice includes writing and acting in student films that have been recognized and screened at regional festivals, teaching inclusive theatre education, and facilitating devising processes that foreground Afro-futurist aesthetics and collaborative creation.
