Title sequence I edited for a short film project created in collaboration with musicians and other filmmakers. My role in the project was that of screenwriter and video editor. The music over the titles was created for the film. I sourced biblically themed images in keeping with the overall themes of the film, before splitting them into multiple layers on Photoshop to create motion in the pictures on After Effects. videoeditor video shortfilm

I had the privilege of collaborating closely with a writer to transform their compelling novella into an adapted screenplay, tailored for the big screen. This involved meticulous discussions on plot arcs and character development, to ensure the narrative seamlessly transitioned from literary form to visual storytelling. The process encompassed regular meetings where we explored each chapter's potential as scenes, discussing how best to translate emotional depth and intricate narratives into a format that captivates both visually and emotionally. We focused on maintaining the original story's essence while enhancing it for cinematic presentation through dynamic dialogue and pacing. One of the key challenges was preserving the novella's unique tone while making it accessible to film audiences. This involved creative decisions about visual elements, character motivations, and plot structure that would engage viewers in a new medium. The final screenplay successfully blended the original work's depth with screenwriting conventions, resulting in a project that has been well-received by both readers and filmmakers alike. This experience underscored the importance of adaptability while respecting source material integrity, offering valuable insights for future storytelling endeavours. screenplay screenwriter adaption novella
