After working professionally as a creative designer for over 12 years, I strongly believe that I would have the right level of confidence and design knowledge to hit the ground running. One of my biggest assets is my broad set of design skills across both digital and print mediums, plus my wealth of experience creating engaging artwork for a wide range of markets and sectors, with all sorts of different messages and target audiences. I absolutely love the scope for variety that this brings and would like to think of myself as a diverse and flexible designer because of this. I also feel as though I am extremely thorough with a keen eye for detail and consistency, which I think sets me apart from other contemporaries.
Ability-wise, I’m a proficient user of Adobe Creative Suite and have experience using other creative software such as Figma and Canva when needed. I’ve designed websites, social media content, emailers and presentations, along with brochures, advertising, logos and icons, and exhibition graphics. I have also previously taken the lead on product and model photography, video production and editing, as well as animation projects. I believe that I’m creative, organised and methodical and would say that I work well independently, as well as with others. For me, collaboration is key in helping a creative concept become as fully realised as possible.
Most importantly, I love what I do - which is essentially delivering something that is visually pleasing and engaging, with a clear thought process and effective messaging behind it. In my mind, the message should drive the design, rather than the other way round. A brand’s narrative and tone of voice is so vital alongside the visual aspect, and is why I also like to be involved with shaping these elements as much as possible too. I thoroughly enjoy writing copy and persuasive arguments, which I feel is another key skill that sets me apart from other designers.
During my career I have worked both independently as the sole creative force at a full-service marketing agency, as well as in-house as part of design teams for large, market-leading brands. All of my previous roles have been busy and diverse, where I have had to be flexible and proactive in working on multiple design jobs at a time. I’m used to dealing with briefs from clients and colleagues at all levels, pitching and explaining design ideas, and working on both quick jobs with tight deadlines and delivering longer, developed projects from start to finish.
