Born in Brooklyn, raised in Texas, I've been playing professionally and operating as a band leader on trombone, my primary instrument, since my early teens. I briefly studied music at St. Mary's University in San Antonio and A&M University- Kingsville, TX. While in school I won a Latin Grammy for music written and recorded for Mexican pop star Alicia Villarreal’s album. I left school and worked as a musician on cruise ships for 5 years. From 2003 - 2006 I toured globally with Youngblood Brass Band and others before moving to London in the UK. There I established my band Brassroots, largely inspiring the creation of the contemporary brass band scene in the UK. I toured the UK and the world for 16 year with Brassroots and countless others. Performance highlights include playing WOMAD, Caceres to an audience of 40,000, Disco Bar Galaxy, Belgium to an audience of 60,000 and selling out Ronnie Scott’s on a double bill. Brassroots has also enjoyed some phenomenal success in the charts with my self-produced /self-released album Black Eye Friday. The single Good Life (Inner City cover) has been licenced all over the world including by Giles Peterson, hit number 1 on the charts in New Zealand. The first original song I wrote for Brassroots, called Black Eye Friday was used on the FA Cup Finals. Both the album and the EP saw multiple re-presses and sold out each time. Other career highlights include, being selected as the house band for the season finale of Ultimate Celebrity Big Brother on Channel 4 and being chosen as the official representative of the UK Department of International Commerce at the 2017 World Expo in Astana, Kazakhstan. I also was the MD for the horn section in Martha Reeves and The Vandellas for 3 years. I’ve written, recorded and\or performed and produced for Rudimental, John Newman, Elle Eyre, Laura Mvula, Snarky Puppy, Eddie Floyd, Duke Dumont, Stylo G, Kano and countless others. I've been producing now for 4 years after winning a grant from the UK Arts Council to train in production and it's been one of the most rewarding skills I've ever had the pleasure of trying to master. I look forward the journey, where it takes me and who else it gifts me the opportunity to create with.
