I am Vugar Islam zada, a filmmaker, director, and post-production supervisor based in Baku, Azerbaijan. I have over a decade of hands-on experience in the media production industry. Although I hold Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in Business Administration, my true passion and my entire career have always been dedicated to visual arts and music.
I prefer to let my work and results speak for themselves. I served as a director and editor for the Baku 2015 European Games, and I directed and edited mini-films for the 2017 Islamic Solidarity Games, which were broadcast on Euronews and Al Jazeera. One of my proudest achievements is winning “The Best Tourism Advertisement” at the Cannes Corporate Media & TV Awards in 2014 for my work on the European Rhythmic Gymnastics Championship. I have also won multiple awards at the Baku and Istanbul Tourism Film Festivals, as well as the Qizil Pari Film Festival.
In the film industry, I worked as the Head of the Editor Group for the Turkish feature film Çat Kapı Aşk (2019) and as the post-production supervisor and VFX artist for Zona (2022). Most recently, I worked as a senior editor on the animated film Nasreddin Hodja (2025) for Bazelevs Studio, where I handled action sequences and the final scene. Currently, I am developing a project for Film Bridge to provide production and location scouting services for foreign film crews in Baku,
Technically, I work fast and effectively with industry-standard software like DaVinci Resolve, Avid Media Composer, Adobe Premiere, and After Effects. Beyond traditional editing, I am deeply involved in the future of filmmaking. I actively use generative AI tools like Kling, Veo, Sora, and Midjourney to optimize and speed up professional post-production workflows.
Music is also a massive part of my life. I have been passionate about hip-hop since 1999, and I am the creator, artistic director, and head of post-production for the YouTube rap battle project Kəllə Kəlləyə. I produce music and create vocal arrangements using FL Studio and Ableton Live. Musical talent actually runs in my family, as my father’s cousin is the famous Azerbaijani singer Akif Islam zada.
Communication is crucial in international projects. I am fluent in Russian and Turkish, and I have an advanced level of English. I also use Azerbaijani to write complex scripts and songs, though my conversational Azerbaijani is more limited.
I am always focused on doing the job well, solving practical problems, and bringing real results to the team.
