Work Experience

Full Stack Engineer at BLAST
May 1, 2023 - Present
Contributed to full-stack development for BLAST.tv, constructing frontend pages and components for both SPA and SSR variants, and implementing frontend data flows to consume and process external data. Built backend features using cloud storage and RESTful APIs; addressed urgent outages during broadcasts to restore functionality for users.
Software Developer at InoveX
August 1, 2021 - February 28, 2023
Transitioned the company from TFS to unified Git workflows by setting up unified development environments, ignoring files, branches, and workflows. Collaborated on a data dashboard in TypeScript using React with AG Grid and AmCharts for advanced visualizations. Wrote Python ETL scripts to move large data sets from SQL Server to PostgreSQL on a Linux VM, and designed a data analysis and storage solution with Microsoft Azure for large-scale batch processing.
Software Developer, Co-Op at Oracle – Eloqua
September 1, 2019 - August 31, 2020
Developed performance tooling in an ASP.NET web app to identify redundancies in client data stored in SQL Server; benchmarked two infrastructures with JMeter deployed across a Kubernetes cluster; created release reports and a PoC for incorporating the NBench framework into existing NUnit tests, with results presented to upper management.
Applied Projects Team Member at Carleton University
February 1, 2021 - April 30, 2021
Created a mini online book store with Spring Boot and JPA, deployed PostgreSQL, and implemented full-stack features for creating and editing items, including single and multi-page versions for browsers (HTML/JavaScript/Thymeleaf). Managed Kanban board and issue tracking on GitHub.
Team Member at Carleton University
October 1, 2020 - April 30, 2021
Predicted Twitch streamer growth using machine learning: established a PostgreSQL data base, applied K-Means clustering to rank data points, and used clustering results as features in subsequent prediction algorithms. Evaluated regression approaches including KNN, random forest, and gradient boosting on multiple subdatasets to improve prediction accuracy.
Development Stack Engineer at Inovex
August 1, 2021 - February 1, 2023
Modernized the company’s version control strategy by migrating legacy TFS repositories to Git, and standardized development workflows. Built data dashboards using React and AG Grid to enable stakeholders to interact with and analyze complex datasets. Engineered ETL pipelines migrating terabytes of data from SQL Server to PostgreSQL on Linux VMs for data science analysis. Architected storage solutions in Microsoft Azure Cloud Services for large-scale batch processing and analytics.
Team Member at Elucidation of the Relationship Between a Song’s Spotify Descriptive Metrics and its Popularity on Various Platforms
February 1, 2021 - April 1, 2021
Led data collection and metadata engineering for a study on Spotify metrics; built a Python data pipeline to collect metadata for over 20,000 songs and implemented dynamic request delays and VPN rotation for successful scraping; performed statistical analysis using Pearson and Spearman correlations to evaluate relationships between musical metrics; contributed to public write-ups and a peer-reviewed publication.
Team Member at Predicting a Twitch Streamer’s Growth Based on the Game Streamed Using Machine Learning
October 1, 2020 - April 1, 2021
Architected a data solution on AWS with a PostgreSQL data store to store streaming data and implemented automated ETL procedures to ingest and process massive datasets. Developed a semi-supervised classification system using K-Means clustering with advanced feature engineering to segment the dataset. Evaluated regression algorithms including KNN, random forest and gradient boosting on multiple data subsets to make accurate predictions. Explored a hybrid prediction model using Deep Neural Networks and Gradient Boosting, achieving a mean absolute error of approximately 2.5%.
