    uniE608 Upstream Foods Inc.
In this strange time of trade wars and food uncertainty, Canadians have a unique opportunity and growing responsibility to cultivate more of their own food rather than relying on imports from the United States. With climate change, supply chain disruptions, and rising food costs, local production has become essential to building resilient communities. In Langley, innovators like Gareth Edwards are leading by example, growing fresh lettuce year-round using sustainable, locally adapted methods. This video is his approach, which not only reduces transportation emissions and ensures fresher produce but also demonstrates how small-scale, community-based agriculture can strengthen food security and independence across Canada. video advert filmdirector videoeditor explainervideo
uniE608 SFU's Institute for Environmental Learning Professional Development in Teslin
IEL was created by the SFU Senate to develop and support environmental learning research in BC communities, schools and post-secondary institutions. It sponsors a few credit and non-credit programs throughout BC and abroad, along with its partners. The committee manage research and other activities in consultation with the advisory council. IEL has a variety of stakeholders, among them are other educators in the field. The objective of my videos is to help promote multi-sectoral collaboration, community-based problem solving and the network of research that goes into these effective teaching practices. video explainervideo filmdirector videoeditor animator
uniE608 SFU's Institute for Environmental Learning Field School on Haida Gwaii
While following the development of the "What is Environmental Learning?", my responsibility is to video document the efforts of the environmental learning education document and rollout. My videos are about the environment, in the environment, and for the environment. With the goal of integrating environmental thinking and ideas into learner’s everyday lives. My Environmental Learning videos promote the integrating of science and social sciences with a multi-disciplinary approach, teaching teachers how to approach learning about the Earth’s ecosystems, identifying our individual and cultural values, making informed and responsible choices, critiquing societal and industrial practices that contribute to environmental problems. Environmental learning can take place just about anywhere – from the formal kindergarten to grade 12 school systems to the informal learning environments, such as nature centers, parks, environmental programs, zoos or aquariums, and much more. video explainervideo videoeditor filmdirector
uniE608 The xʷc̓ic̓əsəm Garden Jar Wars: Attack of the Cloves
The Indigenous Health Research and Education Garden (IHREG) is located at UBC Farm. The garden’s traditional xʷməθkʷəy̓əm Musqueam name is xʷc̓ic̓əsəm. The hən̓q̓əmin̓əm̓ word means “The place where we grow”. My videos of the garden emphasise teaching, learning, and research. xʷc̓ic̓əsəm Garden aims to serve educational and research needs related to Indigenous knowledge and its intersections with other ways of knowing. I am particularly focused on Indigenous food sovereignty, food security, and traditional plant knowledge while increasing participants’ knowledge and access to both traditional and non-traditional plant uses. In this video, I follow Dr Shannon Leddy as she guides the participants through the process of pickling. video filmdirector explainervideo videoeditor
