Winner of the Canticum Novum competition for his choral work Apocalypsis, Arzhel is a graduate of Cégep Saint-Laurent’s jazz composition and arrangement program. His music has been commissioned by independent artists, cultural organizations, and ensembles such as the Quatuor Bazard, affirming his growing presence on the Quebec music scene. Arzhel’s versatility spans from big band orchestration to string quartet writing, and from solo songwriting to immersive audio environments. These experiences have shaped his ability to write for a wide range of ensembles and emotional palettes—skills that translate seamlessly into the world of film scoring. His understanding of harmony, texture, and pacing allows him to craft music that supports story arcs, enhances character development, and evokes atmosphere with precision. In 2025, he was appointed lead composer for an immersive music project in collaboration with UDS’s engineering faculty, under the mentorship of Andrea Gozzi. This project deepened his expertise in spatial audio and interactive soundscapes—tools increasingly relevant in modern cinematic and multimedia storytelling. His experience also includes conducting choral ensembles under the guidance of maestro Robert Ingari, further refining his command of vocal writing and ensemble direction. Driven by a desire to craft a distinct musical voice, Arzhel draws inspiration from the works that shaped his artistic identity. His compositions aim to serve story, mood, and character—making him a compelling candidate for film scoring, where emotional nuance and stylistic adaptability are key.
