Hi, I'll avoid making this Bio into a story and go chronologically to make it as scannable as possible. *AI was not even considered for this written Bio* - 13 Years Ago: Wordpress site building - blogging about teaching English abroad. - 11 Years Ago: internship with an Australian Email Marketing podcaster - learned copywriting, email autoresponders. During the golden era of Amazon FBA, I made the move to use my online marketing skills and copywriting there. I had 3 products at one point and began selling on Shopify as well for one. I became skilled in Amazon PPC (learned from Brian Johnson) and Shopify SEO: My lack of business acumen had me blind to the fact that you can't spend much of what you make at first, so restocking became an issue at my margins. I started building Shopify sites, with focus on content marketing for ecom for organic traffic. 2 clients had local side to their ecom: 1. Service business (salon) 2. Single location hardware/flooring tool store. - 9 Years Ago: Began studying local SEO and joined Semantic Mastery for full immersion. Today I focus on Ecommerce and Local SEO/Google Maps using Wordpress and Shopify as the website platforms. Lead gen varies, but the focus can be calls, walk-ins, website clicks (UTM to track). In the age of AI Search, topical authority is one of the main pillars of organic performance. Content marketing is very much a part of this. I know Prestashop, but it's very dev or module (similar to wp plugins or shopify apps) reliant. I've blogged throughout this time. Had my nutrition blog at a point making almost 300 per month from less than 50 posts using Amazon Affiliate program. I wanted to be brief, I apologize. - 7 Years Ago: Set the blogs aside and started SEO for Concise Digital in Perth, WA for the stability after my first son was born. Great company and people. Late-night meetings with Australia became problematic when my second little guy was born (I am a morning-person and an early-to-rise worker), so now I seek US-based client relationships or hours to maintain. AI Search and performance is showing to require 2 things - to boil it down: BRANDING and TOPICAL AUTHORITY. For local maps, a properly optimized GBP will mirror the website. Schema essential in either case. Happy to elaborate. Each business varies, but the idea would be to maximize leads or top goal from GBP starting from your exact proximity. UTM tracking is essential. Also, 3rd party phone tracking would help to capture the desktop calls not tracked on GBP. Letting Google/ LLM search bots know exactly who you are, what you do and where is what the ultimate goal is. Building out other properties can be powerful if branded correctly. This is all dependent on the situation and competition. Happy to discuss more. Thank you - John Manning
