Meet the Foods of Korea!
Digital (procreate)
I created this short comic to introduce traditional Korean foods to foreign English speakers.
I began the comic by introducing foods that are already well known, such as kimchi and bibimbap and added more obscure food as I went on to make the learning experience less overwhelming. With each new character, I added an information panel to explain the foods more in-depth. However, I kept the descriptions short and lighthearted to keep the reader engaged throughout the comic.

You Don't Look Like Me!
Watercolour
12 X 9 inches
This is a children's book I created. As a child, I loved reading picture books because their message was direct through the illustrations. Now that as a growing artist, I wanted to create my own to fulfill my childhood dream of creating my own children's book.
The book is about Lucas, the main character, travelling to other villages to make friends. However, when he arrives in each town, he is perplexed by their exotic looks and disregards making friends in any of the towns he visited. This prompts a clown to show up and tell him that the townspeople are just different from him and that he should not judge someone simply by their looks. This book shows children that they shouldn't judge someone based on their foreign looks and instead try to get to know them first.
I used watercolour to create a fairytale-like look and added saturated colours on the focal points to naturally guide attention along with the storyline.

MEAT ONLY!
Digital (procreate)
This piece is a fun flashback to my childhood when I used to be a picky eater. Whenever my grandma baked me meat pies, I used to pick out all the vegetables and only ate the meat. However, this process got harder as my grandma poured extra sauce on the pies, making the vegetables and the meats indistinguishable.
The food stepping into my plate represents those mysterious pie fillings that confused me with its identity. Is it meat…or a carrot?
This digital piece is more experimental compared to my other digital works as I tried to capture the grainy texture of handmade paintings to give a homey and warm feeling to this piece.

Tales of the Unknown
Watercolour and dip pen on illustration board
12 x 21 inches
This piece shows a collection of fears I have in my bed at night. While the portrayal of myself in the painting looks worried and scared, the monsters around me are sleeping cozily as if they came out of a fairy tale. Through this composition, I tried to share the idea that even the scariest monsters are just beings with their own lives. It's only my groundless stereotypes of these fears that are causing my terror over them.
I used bright colours to present my fears as "harmless" while still capturing the uneasiness that comes with my fear's presence by using colours associated with circus and tarot cards.

Wonders Over The Hills
Oil paint on canvas
16 X 20 inches
In this piece, I'm emphasizing the importance of creativity by showing how one of the most imaginative books, Alice's Adventures in Wonderland, would not have existed without creativity.
The foreground of the painting is dull and black and white, representing reality without creativity. However, towards the background of the painting, it becomes more vibrant and distorted, portraying the exciting world that a creative mind can see.
I believe creativity can spark in any moment as the inspiration for the mad hatter could have simply come from a normal man with a hat.

Who Is Autumn?
This piece was inspired by the art studio of Francis Bacon. His studio was pure chaos, filled with piles of jumbled boxes and paint stains. However, despite the chaotic appearance, the room introduced me to the artist in an indirect way; by seeing the presented items and their placements, I was learning about the artist.
I thought that this form of introduction was amusing because it felt like a picture hunt and provoked interest while still leaving a sense of mystery.
So, I designed my own room filled with a collection of personal items that would introduce me indirectly to my audience.
As I wanted people to be immersed in my painting, I decided to make it 3D so people could feel present in this room and see the details. I added modelling paste and attached some non-art-related materials to the canvas, such as cloth and plastic pieces. illustrator painter…This piece was inspired by the art studio of Francis Bacon. Marie Antoilet
This piece addresses the phenomenon that happened during the lockdown when people panic bought toilet paper. I referenced this behaviour to the wastefulness of the French nobles that caused the French Revolution.
I used ink for this piece to mimic the vintage pen illustrations that are often seen in historical textbooks. Nobody knows whether this illustration will ever be put on the textbooks of future generations! illustrator vintage ink pen…This piece addresses the phenomenon that happened during the lockdown when people panic bought toilet paper. Hey, We're Still On Air!
This piece is an album cover I designed for the song "Mr Blue Sky" by ELO. I tried to capture the song's childlike playfulness by drawing a man stepping out of his job, just to celebrate the blue sky.
The title of this piece has a dual meaning because "on air" can be interpreted two ways: being above the ground and being live in a studio. Each of these meanings can be applied to the illustration. illustrator procreate albumcover…This piece is an album cover I designed for the song "Mr Blue Sky" by ELO. Where Did These People Get Their Licence?
This piece was inspired by a pigeon that was struggling to get past the road because of the walking crowds in its way. I felt empathy for the pigeon as people completely disregarded its existence and saw it as an urban pest.
I created this piece from the perspective of the pigeon watching the crowd. Now, the tables have switched because, in the pigeon's perspective, the humans are the pests, bluntly walking by with no regard but to themselves. The narrative is tied to the title as it is a reference to the aggressive drivers seen on the road. illustrator painter oilpaint realism…This piece was inspired by a pigeon that was struggling to get past the road because of the walking crowds in its way.
