My personal design style first took root when commercials for Splatoon started airing in the early 2010s. The bright colors, paint splatters, and dripping effects flipped a switch in my little child brain. It felt like the embodiment of the creative spirit; free flowing materials at the behest of the creative, and if something accidental happens then it’s okay. I’ve been enamored with paint as a motif since. My brand is ultra-creative, a little punk. I like things that
are rough around the edges. The weird and out-there types are my crowd. Creativity is the human spirit, and what better way for me to showcase that than by being an oddball!
My art philosophy is largely informed by the weirdos, the boundary pushers. David Lynch’s filmography has some of my favorite movies and my favorite shows of all time, so just by nature his style and themes would make their way into anything I make. Particularly the way he delivers profound messages with surrealism and inverted Americana. I’m inspired by lots of drag artistry, but particularly the queen Alaska 5000. They pushed the boundaries of drag on television, doing things we had never seen before, and the show was never the same after she won. I love the punk attitude, refusing boxes and rejecting standards, it’s at the heart of some of our greatest counterculture art movements. Dadaism, street art, even Michaelangelo had a punk side. I love pushing things further, really reveling in my artistry.
