This project is a series of custom paintings created on leather billiard bags, utilizing elongated vertical formats that require a different compositional approach from conventional painting surfaces. The works combine detailed linework, dot work, color layering, and texture exploration on leather to produce visually intricate pieces with a strong artisan character. Influenced by dark fantasy, contemporary mythology, Japanese-inspired art, neo-traditional illustration, and Art Nouveau aesthetics, the paintings feature dragons, samurai, yokai, symbolic animals, and dramatic narrative figures rendered with high attention to detail.
The central themes of the project revolve around mythology, symbolism, spirituality, courage, and the relationship between beauty and darkness. Beyond functioning as decorative elements on functional objects, each piece is designed as a visual narrative with its own emotional atmosphere and cinematic presence. The artworks aim to transform utilitarian products into collectible artistic objects that carry identity, storytelling, and expressive value.
One of the main challenges in this project lies in painting on curved, non-flat billiard bags with varying dimensions and elongated proportions. This condition requires careful vertical composition planning to maintain visual balance, rhythm, and movement from top to bottom without losing the focal point. Figure placement, ornamentation, and color distribution are intentionally arranged to turn spatial limitations into a distinctive visual strength. Strong contrasts between black, red, gold, white, and vibrant accent colors are used to enhance depth, drama, and overall visual impact.
