I am a multi-dimensional Illustrator, Designer, Fine Artist, and Art Director with a focus on realistic representation. Whether it’s a hand drawn illustration, or a CGI recreation, I strive for accuracy, authenticity, and approachability that draws the viewer in and makes them want to engage further in the narrative. I graduated from the Kansas City Art Institute with a Bachelor of Fine Arts (BFA) degree in Illustration, and have experience in Fine Art Painting, Printmaking, and many other focuses of the Fine Arts. I am comfortable working in traditional mediums but I’ve also adapted my traditional illustration style to the digital world. I always begin with pencil sketches on paper to develop my work, gradually tightening them up, then I scan the drawings in and work digitally to further refine and develop line work, color, and composition, ensuring that a project can be altered and reworked as necessary in response to today’s demanding deadline-driven environment. As a contributing member of the Detroit Design Guild, I create show poster artwork regularly for LiveNation Entertainment for various music shows in the Detroit and Grand Rapids Michigan areas. Previously in my career I have created hand-painted artwork for the viral ‘Who is Benjamin Stove’ online mystery and scavenger hunt, created as part of General Motors’ E85 fuel initiative. I also developed illustrations supporting the US Navy’s ‘Strike and Retrieve’ online strategy game, designed to attract the best and brightest new recruits. In my spare time, I continue to build my long running series, ‘It Girls’ which shows strong women, sometimes in whimsical situations, and often shown in traditionally male dominated pursuits. In my professional career, I am a senior advertising creative with experience conducting photo shoots, casting talent, and selecting locations, props and wardrobe for a particular situation. I also have extensive experience directing CGI asset creation with an eye for realism. It takes a critical eye to build CGI from the ground up, then to combine it seamlessly with photographic elements for a believable experience. This professional work in photography and CGI has benefitted from my experience as a traditionally trained illustrator and in turn, the observation and attention to detail that’s required has only further strengthened my illustration work. I’m a voracious reader with a strong interest in world history. I enjoy the process of conducting deep, immersive research into a subject so that I’m not only accurately depicting anatomical detail on a realistic level, but also what a subject would look like, their hair style, what they would wear, their daily activities, how they would act, and the tools of everyday life they would have available to them. I would love to apply my skills and experience for this project and I’d welcome your engagement if there are any other questions I could answer.
