Rooted in a lifelong passion for music and sound, Colombian audio engineer Camilo Amaya Martinez began his musical journey in Colombia at the age of four. His dedication to the craft led him to pursue a formal education in audio engineering, graduating from the Pontifical Xavierian University in Bogotá in 2021 with a Bachelor of Music with Emphasis on Audio Engineering, and earning the Honorary Mention for his Undergraduate Thesis. Driven by a commitment to mastering his craft at the highest level, Camilo pursued graduate studies at McGill University from 2022 to 2025, where he earned a Master of Music in Sound Recording and was honored with the John Bradley Award for Excellence in Sound Recording. His academic journey reached an international stage when he represented McGill University at the 156th Audio Engineering Society (AES) Convention in New York City, competing in the prestigious Student Recording Competition and earning the Silver Medal in Category 1 – Traditional Acoustic Recording. Throughout his career, Camilo has had the privilege of working and studying alongside some of the most respected and distinguished figures in the audio engineering world, including Martha de Francisco, Richard King, Steven Epstein, James Clemens-Seely, and Anne-Marie Sylvestre, among others. His diverse portfolio spans multiple genres and cultures, having collaborated with a wide range of Colombian, Canadian, and international artists, including La 33, Amantina, Mattia Pironti, Lensky, Blue Straggler, parapariah, and La Groovin' Machine, among others. Camilo currently serves as a Mastering Technician at Le Lab Mastering in Montreal, where he brings meticulous attention to detail and an unwavering commitment to quality to every project. His approach to mastering is guided by a deep respect for the artistic vision of the musicians, producers, and mixers he works with, ensuring that each master not only meets the highest technical standards, but also faithfully honors and elevates the artistry behind the music.
