    paper www.autismsupportcommunity.org

I built a website for Autism Support Community, a nonprofit organization, based within the Los Angeles area, that strives to build a supportive community for people on the spectrum and their families and/or caretakers. I shared screenshots of this website I designed with Wix on my social media pages as a way to somehow add the design to my overall portfolio and help promote this wonderful organization. During this experience, I learned how to create dynamic pages, informational listings and some of the basics of getting a website/web page set up for Search Engine Optimization.

    paper www.sdp-resource-center.org

I designed a website for Disability Voices United (DVU), a nonprofit organization based in Los Angeles who serves to empower people with disabilities and their families and created California’s Self-Determination Law. This featured website that is run by DVU is called SDP Resource Center, an informational website about California’s Self-Determination Program. During this experience, I got to use a site builder called Wordpress. I have used Wordpress before, but it was only to post blogs, along with some of my work, for the photography and graphic design courses I took back in college. This time around, I learned how to make knowledge base pages and I find Elementor, one of the Wordpress plugins, to be very useful when it comes to creating web pages.

    paper www.sdpprovidernetwork.org

This is another one of the 3 websites I got to work on for @selfdeterminationinstitute . This one is https://www.twine.net/signin , an informational listing site where participants in the Self-Determination Program (SDP) can look for the right Financial Management Service (FMS), find independent facilitators and/or find providers who offer a variety of services. SDP providers from any of the 3 categories can also add their service listings to the SDP Provider Network website by clicking on the “+”/“Add Listing” button on the top right, creating an account and filling out a submission form. We used a different Wordpress website building theme, which was Hivepress Listing, to design this website (and had to use Spectra to try to create the same Contact web page as the other 2 sites). I pretty much got to figure out how attributes work, especially in regards to setting up the submission form, in order to organize all of the information we wanted to include and how listing images are fit into thumbnails when people are browsing. We got many SDP provider listings we could find and I did some small design customizations to match the color scheme, header and footer layouts of the other SDI websites.

    paper www.selfdeterminationinstitute.org

During my experience working for Self-Determination Institute, I got to work on not 1, not 2, but 3 websites. One of the 3 websites is the first one titled https://www.twine.net/signin that talks about basic information about the organization itself along with self-determination. The Executive Director wanted a simple layout for the Self-Determination Institute (SDI) website as we selected a few different layouts to use for the page sections. One main section layout I selected for the stacked individual/double sections on the desktop version (while I had a different layout set up for the mobile version) is an alternate pattern between the text and images to let the website be a little unique. I used Wordpress to design this SDI website (along with one of the other sites) and we went with the Astra theme and the Spectra plugin.
