Hello, I’m Chris Vasey, a freelance technical consultant and full-stack web developer based in York, United Kingdom. I have an extensive background working as both a web developer and IT systems engineer. My main goal is to build websites that have a strong focus on the user's experience. With over 40 WordPress websites built by myself and another 80 under management, I like to think I have seen it all when it comes to building, integrating and adding custom functionality to meet customer requirements. Website uses the Amazon AWS infrastructure as a CDN and Digital Ocean Ubuntu servers for hosting. I have experience working in all the modern front-end frameworks (React.js, Vue.js and Angular) though love working specifically in Vue.js. For mobile development, I also work with React Native and have in the past built portals/APIs for mobile apps to consume in both Firebase and Laravel. I strive to test and document as much as my code as possible in order to make it as maintainable as possible for future devs and wider teams. I have a passion for engaging with new technology and frequently attend industry conferences such as PHP London, Wordcamp Edinburgh and Dot York where I have built an extensive network of other highly skilled developers that I can enlist to work on larger projects. I am CIW certified in web standards and accessability. As well as building websites, I regularly consult and support customers with Office 365 migrations/rollouts with a focus on moving onsite provisions into cloud-hosted Sharepoint, Exchange Online and AzureAD environments. I also have experience in provisioning hybrid setups with existing Active Directory and Microsoft Exchange environments. I am also lead technical consultant for "The Ideas Mine Community Interest Group"; a non-profit which helps charities to reach their full potential by leveraging cloud technologies. This role has led me to become the administrator of over 15 organisations on an ad-hoc basis. I have previously qualified with the CompTIA A+ IT qualifications and was apprentice trained within a Cisco and Microsoft partner organisation. I am happy to provide references for any past work or information on specific services I provide. My website: _Website not available. Sign in: https://www.twine.net/signup_

uniE621 Dock Arts - Custom CMS system built in in PHP
Dock Arts was a student art group based out of Edinburgh College of Art. Using arts council funding Jess Bentley (founder) approached me with the brief of using a site that allowed members to easily build portfolios, post news articles and showcase project work. I created the site using the https://www.twine.net/signin CMS system as the flat file structure allowed users to easily rollback specific pages using the Git version control system if needed and to upload large amount of photos directly into an easy to navigate folder structure that would build profiles. A lot of work went into making the site design minimal and clean in order to focus on the art content of the site. A number of custom features were implemented such as the ability to tag a news article written about an artist which would then result in it pulling the mentioned artists work/profile into the sidebar. Sadly the site did not receive funding to continue another year but as artists still regularly reference the site I have kept an archive version of the site here: https://www.twine.net/signin #webdesign #development #getkirby #flatfileCMS
uniE621 Quantum Wealth Management - Uniquely Designed WordPress Website
Quantum Wealth Management approached me with a brief to create a website that "stands out" amount financial services websites. After discussing a number of ideas and mocking up prototype designs for the look and feel we decided to go with a "space" theme and strong purple colours. The outcome of the website was a stunning WordPress site with strong visuals that clearly promote the services offered by Quantum. uniE621 Voltacompliance - Branded customer portal and website built in WordPress
Richard Carr director of Voltacompliance approached with a project to build a WordPress site for the new company. One of the requirements of the project was to build a client portal where customer certificates and documentation could be uploaded for customers to review. By building the customer portal in WordPress I was able to leverage the existing user accounts API and page editor backend to enable Richard to generate the portal pages and user accounts all in the same place as his website content. uniE621 Hosit-IT Ltd - Niche Business, WordPress Website Design and Build
After being approached by Hoist-IT I produced a WordPress website that allowed them to upload new products, promote services and educate customers on the offering of Hoist-IT ltd. After completing the project I received the following comments from Geoff Beentjes, Managing Director: "Just recently had our website re-designed by Chris Vasey. We operate as a highly specialist construction & industrial rental support company operating in various market sectors. As a business we don’t rely too heavily on our website to bring in new business although it regularly does, we use it more as a training tool assisting our Clients in understanding the products & services we offer for which our site is invaluable. We attract mainly ‘blue chip’ Clients so it was very important the site looked professional and easy to navigate. The website was long overdue an update, I had no problem finding Companies willing to offer their services with a huge range of products and prices to choose from, a complete minefield for somebody with limited understanding in this field. Chris came on recommendation from an IT Consultant we have known for many years and first impression was Chris had all the attributes needed to deliver a website, which wasn’t going to be an easy task given the nature of our business. He came across very professional and already had a good understanding of what was needed to raise our web profile and deliver an updated modern and user friendly website. He had clearly researched our business prior to our initial meetings and had also carefully selected competitors and typical clients to gain the insight needed to fully understand our requirements. Chris provided an extremely efficient and professional service with a lot less inconvenience than I had been expecting. I have no hesitation in highly recommending his service and look forward to retaining Chris Vasey for all our future website needs." uniE621 North Yorkshire Sport - Office365 Setup, Migration and Support
David Watson from North Yorkshire Sport first approached me to undertake a migration project that migrated them from an existing Office365 tenancy to new tenancy as they were separating as a company from an existing schools infrastructure. At the time all devices were running on the schools internal Active Directory and using internal file servers for storage. The main requirement for the project was that as the staff would be working from multiple locations, all provisions possible must be accessible in the cloud without the use of VPNs or Proxy connections. After successfully migrating all mail to the new Office365 tenancy, I removed all computers from the schools Active Directory and joined them to AzureAD within the new tenancy. Once Microsoft launched the "files on demand" functionality of OneDrive I was then able to migrate the company from an onsite NAS drive to now access over 1TB of files using multiple Sharepoint libraries. There is now no physical servers onsite and all services are routed via Office365. #ActiveDirectory #Office365 #Microsoft
