Danny Kim is a Global Freelance VFX Supervisor / Creative Director, who’s been working in the VFX industry since 1997. Throughout the 27 years of his career, he has participated in numerous Hollywood, Chinese and Korean projects. Based on his long experience and professional knowledge, he can provide effective and creative solutions regarding any problems in the VFX process, from pre-production to post-production. Danny recently left Crafty Apes after two years working as VFX Supervisor. While with Crafty, he supervised and was on-set in New Orleans for 6 TV series and one feature film project. Prior to joining Crafty, he supervised in China for 6 years and returned after finishing 2021’s major Chinese blockbuster, ‘The Battle at Lake Changin (⻓津湖)’. He worked directly with director Dante Lam. Supervising entire VFX pipeline from previz to on set to post, delivering well over 1,500 shots in 2 months. With a strong art & design background, his career began as a Softimage 3D artist and Silicon Grail Chalice compositor. He served several studios like Boss Film, House of Moves and Square USA. Then in 1998, he co-founded LOOK! Effects Inc. in Hollywood with Mark Driscoll, Henrik Fett, and Anthony ‘Max’ Ivins. LOOK! FX had a successful 15-year run, working on over 200 projects such as feature films, television productions, commercials, and special venue projects. Danny participated in most of these projects as a Supervisor, Creative Director and Artist. During this time, he was also managing well over 200 artists in 3 offices in Los Angeles, New York, and Vancouver. Until LOOK! FX merged with Psyops in 2013. After leaving LOOK! FX, Danny co-founded RASCA FX in Seoul, South Korea. While he was in charge for 3 years, RASCA employed over 40 talented artists, and worked over 15 major Korean feature films. RASCA still performing as one of the leading VFX house in Korea. Finally in 2016, Danny turned freelance and now operates a Global VFX Consulting Service Company called DKVFX Inc.
