Dominic Locher is an independent director-shooter-editor focusing on creating insightful films for responsible brands, environmental organisations, and international social enterprises, currently based in the Alps.
Dominic’s recent production focus has seen him create work exposing the fair-trade welfare of factory workers in China for an online shopping giant, the success story of a seaweed farm in the Faroe Islands, an entrepreneurial up-cycling youth incubator programme with the British Council in Cape Town, and ongoing offshore filming assignments with The Ocean Clean Up, documenting their ongoing efforts to rid our oceans of plastic.
Graduating from Central Saint Martins in 2004, Dominic set up shop in Sydney, where over the next decade he directed, shot, and edited branded content, ads, and fashion films around the world for brands like H&M, ONLY, UNIQLO, QANTAS, VODAFONE, CANON, TOURISM AUSTRALIA, CARTIER, JACK DANIELS, THE ICONIC and many more.
Dominic worked closely with advertising agencies on award winning global campaigns for LEO BURNETT, DROGA 5, M&C SAATCHI, PUBLICIS MOJO, and creative agency PAPER STONE SCISSORS.
Dominic’s early one-man-band approach to directing, filming, and editing, proved a success with Australian experiential campaign agencies, record labels Sony BMG and EMI, and music TV Chanel MTV, where through producing promos, fashion film, and music documentary, he soon shaped his fluid cinematic style and emotive visual identity.
Dominic counts his work for the award winning global events company RIZER as one of his special clients, covering world class events for brands like BULGARI, RANGE ROVER, SKII, ERNST & YOUNG (EY), THE AUSTRALIAN, and the 2012 LONDON OLYMPICS, as well as large scale private events in Monaco.

Trash accumulates in five ocean garbage patches, the largest one being the Great Pacific Garbage Patch, located between Hawaii and California. If left to circulate, the plastic will impact our ecosystems, health, and economies. Solving it requires a combination of closing the source, and cleaning up what has already accumulated in the ocean.
I’ve been doing video & photographic assignments at the Great Pacific Garbage Patch since 2019 with The Ocean Cleanup.
A studio shot content piece for UNIQLO LifeWear
A summer fashion film for The Iconic in Australia.
Remember when summer was one endless adventure?
This is an episode of a 4 part series of fashion films I directed, shot, and edited in Cambodia for an Australian fashion retailer.
Since the tragic Rana Plaza factory collapse in April 2013, in which 1138 people lost their lives, Fashion Revolution week (just passed) was born to mark its anniversary and to encourage transparency in supply chains worldwide.
As part of one brands journey to a fairer and better working environment across its factories in China, and in conjunction with the ‘Who Made My Clothes’ movement, I’m very humbled to have had this opportunity to make a film about some of the stories of the people who make our clothes, highlighting a promising positive shift in the garment industry in China.
Following multiple successful extractions, our crew in the Great Pacific Garbage Patch is on the verge of extending the system’s size to 2.1 km in length - the biggest system we’ve ever deployed and a crucial final step in our transition to System 03.
