Hi, I’m Ed Coulson, an award-winning freelance audio professional based in Galway, Ireland. You can message me here, or contact me directly on +353_Phone details not available. Sign in: https://www.twine.net/signup_. I specialise in location recording, interviews, sound design, and immersive audio work that engages audiences' hearts, minds and ears. My broad technical audio skills are combined with a warm and professional style as an interviewer and recordist; an intelligent and creative approach to story editing; and a professional and communicative manner as a colleague and contractor.

I've produced field recordings, packages and a documentary feature for RTÉ Radio 1; field-produced for the BBC World Service; and recorded location tape sync interviews for Vox Media and Munck Studios. Two of my documentaries have won Gold at the Craol Awards. As well as producing for radio and podcasts, I also have a particular interest in place-specific audio. My Headford Lace Trail won the international Sound Walk September Award in 2023, and I’m a Grand Jury member for the 2026 award. Other recent place-specific works include a piece to accompany an exhibition of children’s art for Wandsworth Council in London; a permanent sound walk for the Irish national organ donor memorial garden in Salthill, Galway; and a soundscape for the Galway Roscommon ETB exhibition garden that won a silver-gilt medal at Bloom. Beyond production, I have designed and delivered media training and outreach programs, and managed a community radio station.
