    uniE621 Código 06140 - Style Magazine
The magazine *Código 06140* was a prominent quarterly publication focused on trends, lifestyle, and contemporary art, based in Mexico City. With a sophisticated approach and a luxurious air, the magazine sought to capture the essence of a discerning audience in tune with the best of current cultural movements. Its redesign became an opportunity for me to redefine the publication's visual character, pushing the concept to new limits with a deconstructed yet precise grid that broke with the conventional without losing the necessary clarity and functionality. The challenge was to balance sophistication with modernity, achieved through the use of contemporary typefaces with an unmistakable art-deco feel, evoking elegance and timelessness. Every visual element, from images to typographic compositions, was carefully designed to convey a sense of luxury, not in an ostentatious way but in a subtle and refined manner. This approach allowed *Código 06140* to position itself not only as a trend magazine but as an artistic piece in itself, inviting readers into a visual experience as rich and stimulating as the content it offered. Through meticulous art direction, I consolidated a dynamic and elegant visual discourse that respected the tradition of high-end editorial design, but with a fresh, disruptive vision that challenged expectations, setting new standards in the design of luxury publications and contemporary art. uniE621 Butoh, el derecho a la locura - Conceptual Book
The design takes inspiration from Zen principles, interconnecting and overlapping them to create an organic and authentic spirit. All photographs are by Thito Gutiérrez. *Butoh, el derecho a la locura*, aspires to awaken the reader's senses in a subtle and sophisticated way *(Shibu)*. Through the use of materials in their raw state, binding with exposed stitchings, the careful selection of papers, and different printing techniques, it affirms its identity and evokes the shizen of Japanese art. Like *butoh* itself, the proposal transcends convention *(datsuzoku)*: it challenges typographical conventions and explores formal alterations expressively and spontaneously. The composition, of balanced irregularity *(fukinsei)*, represents the challenging nature of the dance, its introspection, and its critical spirit *(seijaku)*. Neither the texts nor the design reveals the documented identities; They use different resources to suggest them and ask for a deeper observation *(yugen)*. Simple and direct, dispensing with decorative resources and focused on the clarity that reveals the emotion of the *kanso; Butoh, el derecho a la locura*, is a book-object that invites contemplation. uniE621 Forbes Life - Style Magazine
A Style Magazine for Millionaires: Luxury, Power, Sophistication, and Elegance These were the guiding principles behind the redesign of *Forbes Life*, published for Mexico, Central America, and the Caribbean. The challenge lay in balancing the "classic" with the "avant-garde"—ensuring the magazine remained recognisable to its audience while offering a refreshed aesthetic. I recalled the philosophy of the great designer Raymond Loewy, who believed that design should deliver "the most advanced yet acceptable." The "classic" aspects were primarily assigned to the page structure. A simple grid prioritises symmetrical compositions, which increase dynamism and tension through the visual weight of images and textual elements. The "avant-garde" dimension is reflected in the graphic elements within this structure. The headline typeface is a hyperbolic Didone with stencil-like qualities (*Dala Floda* by Commercial Type). Image sizes, shots, and framing shift in and out of symmetrical axes without unnecessary flamboyance, achieving a refined yet contemporary aesthetic. uniE621 Wetlands Strategy for the Balearic Islands 2030 - ePub
In recent decades, perceptions of wetlands have shifted dramatically. Once regarded as reservoirs of disease and areas to be drained for agricultural expansion, they are now recognised as essential in the fight against climate change. Wetlands not only store CO₂, helping to mitigate global warming, but also serve as vital refuges for biodiversity, natural filters for aquifers, and key tools in flood prevention. The revaluation of these ecosystems is crucial, especially in an era of extreme climate fluctuations and growing environmental challenges. *Wetlands Strategy for the Balearic Islands 2030*, was designed for the Conselleria de Medi Ambient i Territori of the Government of the Balearic Islands and WWF. This project features dynamic and accessible navigation through multiple entry points, along with redesigned maps and graphics to enhance clarity. The cover, inspired by the Conselleria’s visual identity, incorporates diagonal lines that evoke the movement of water, reinforcing the essence and importance of wetlands. This book serves as a valuable tool for publishers and authors interested in creating interactive and visually engaging content. uniE621 10× 100× - Photobook
*10x-100x* is a book designed in collaboration with Polimata Studio, featuring contributions from authors Rafael Gamo and Friné Ortega. This project stands out for the sense of stillness in its images, the tension created by elements placed away from the centre, and the rhythm of black and white. The 1:0.9 proportion maintains the balance of the circle while shifting the text away from the symmetrical centre of the page, creating a dynamic tension that enhances the book’s sequencing. The images progress along vertical and horizontal axes through spreads, establishing a visually cohesive flow. The same typeface was used for folios, captions, and introductory text, with a slightly larger variation for titles. The book’s outer case avoids photography, instead opting for a typographic treatment in small sizes, encouraging close examination. The composition reconstructs the circular structure seen through a microscope, distinguished by subtle material variations—such as a paper change, a different black tone, or a texture that forms a semicircle. This approach adds depth and refinement to the design, creating a unique visual and tactile experience. See More graphicdesigner bookdesigner typography editorialdesigner
