Domenico Vellucci (b. 1990, Italy) is a Rome- based saxophonist, composer and teacher active in the field of contemporary music research. He graduated in saxophone with top marks at the Conservatorio “S. Pietro a Majella” in Naples, then studied composition with Vincenzo Galdi, piano with Luigi Averna and he graduated Summa cum Laude in Composition at the Pontifical Institute of Sacred Music in Rome.
He has performed in festivals and exhibitions such as Umbria Jazz, JazzFlirt, Luglio Musicale a Capodimonte, Suoni dal Legno di Todi, Nuova Consonanza, Dei Suoni, Radici Sonore, Grido and in theatres such as “S. Carlo” in Naples and “Fenaroli” in Lanciano. In 2024 he was selected by the Divertimento Ensemble as composer for the international summer workshops and his music has been performed by musicians such as Mi-Sa Yang, Jozef Luptak, Elio Marchesini, Carlotta Raponi (Divertimento Ensemble), Marco Rivas Torres, Efisio Aresu and in festivals such as Rondò in Monferrato, Festival Concertando, in the Church of the Visitazione and in the Church of Assunta in Rome.
Since 2024 he has been a member of ATMAN, the improvisation quartet with Ermanno Baron, Alessandro Ciccarelli and Cristian Maddalena.
In 2019 with the Gymnasium quartet he won the 3rd prize at the Festival dei Conservatori and in 2014 he played in New York with Charlie Apicella’s ‘Iron City’ project.
He attended master classes with Alessandro Sbordoni, Stefano Gervasoni, Jerry Bergonzi and Marcel Pèrés.
He holds a degree in Modern Literature from the University of Naples “Federico II”.
