Hello. I’ve been a Production Supervisor or Head of Production for 25 years.
When I would work in a producer/production manager role, my responsibilities would include supervising all departments within the production and help to ensure the production stays on schedule and within budget.
I would work to create realistic and cost-effective production schedules based on specs and information provided by the client/broadcaster or executive in charge. Create and supervise the overall production schedule from pre-production through final delivery. Revising or adjusting the schedule to ensure final delivery to the client. This always includes disseminating the schedule information to all production personnel and ancillary departments. Tracking production progress and updating production the schedule on an ongoing basis.
I would always assist with reviewing resumes and demo reels for prospective team members, conduct interviews and administer animation tests. I would be also responsible for monthly tracking of labour expenses on the production and calculate costs to complete. This included any communication and training of Production Coordinators and receiving any concerns of flags from them in regards to their work and observations and making efforts to deal with issues efficiently and proactively. If necessary, flag schedule and budgeting concerns to the head of the studio. Troubleshoot problems and proactively collaborating with the other managers/coordinators and leads from the team to find solutions.
Communicating with tech support when needed to support artists and the tracking systems they rely on and use to deliver their work; this would include the Animation Directors or Supervisors on processes such as assigning shots or tracking workloads, along with asset management with the art director and their team of artists & designers to ensure the production’s goals and stylistic needs of the client are being met. This included directing a point person to the client on behalf of the production, to help facilitate a positive working relationship between studios and help to ensure the overall production runs smoothly.
I would assist the Producer/Director on all aspects of the production, including the coordinating of deliveries between production facilities. Maintain file management of all incoming materials and tracking systems for the directors and producers, and guide and oversee all artwork and animated sequences and scenes through all stages of production on each episode.
Provide scheduling and administrative support for the producers and directors, as required. Coordinate, book travel and hotels for the Production’s staff. Maintain all materials of stages.
I hope I can be of use to your production, thank you so much for your tume.
