Dear Twine. I would like to apply for the position of Animator/Illustrator. I graduated from Anglia Ruskin University in June 2023 with a first-class honour’s degree in Animation and Illustration. Most recently I created an animated educational video for Jackal Consultants France, a bespoke consultancy company specialising in water, wastewater, and flood risk. This was a quick turnaround project that still required a high attention to detail. The animation and its assets were possible thanks to Adobe Photoshop, which I have expert knowledge of along with the rest of the Adobe products package whether it be used for animation, illustration, graphic design. Something that caught my eye for this position was the requirement for experience in pencil-drawn illustration and animation. During my degree I attended numerous sessions that including life drawing and landscape sketches that I completed in various materials, including pen, paint, and pencil. I also have done short films in pencil and paper, for example I once created a digital animation with a witch that summoned demons who were fully animated in pencil and pen and then added into the film via photoshop. I have made films entirely with just pencil. In terms of logo design, I entered the logo competition for the 2024 Cambridge Chocolate Festival, in which I made it to the finale and was given the opportunity to show case my illustrations and animation. One of these animations being my end of year film, a three-minute short done in the style of the John Tenniel’s illustrations of Alice in Wonderland. I was obsessed with his illustrative style and incorporated his crosshatching techniques into the characters of the film to give it a more unique look. It was the opening film for my university’s showcase and will be showcased at « Le Caveau des Frérots » gallery in the South of France. What drew me in for the opportunity to work for Twine was the chance to use the skills I had acquired from my time as an animator/illustrator and apply them to a traditionally animated project, which is my preferred method of animation. I also am happy to see that Twine supports traditional freelance work and would love to work for a business that empowers the creative endeavours of artists. I look forward to hearing from you soon. Best Regards Finbar O’Neill
