This scene features the two main characters on a first date. I wanted to capture the emotional essence of the female lead ‘Finley’ through themes of trust, apprehension, excitement and surreal emotional connection depicted though compositional angularism, harmonic warmth/layering and gently transitioning between visual cues.

These two contrasting variations of a theme explore the emotional world of the character, each presenting a different perspective her inner life. One theme reflects how the audience might initially perceive her: gentle, curious, and filled with a sense of fragile optimism, expressed through lyrical melodies and lighter orchestral textures.
The second theme shifts inward, representing the character’s own perspective, where deeper tensions, longing, and emotional complexity emerge through darker harmonies and more dramatic orchestration. Together, the themes create a musical portrait that moves between outward perception and internal reality, tracing the distance between how the character appears and what she truly experiences.
