I am Giuseppe Boccassini, a filmmaker, curator, and researcher based in Berlin, Germany. My work explores archival practices, memory, and the intersection between film and heritage conservation. Currently, I am working on Phantom Ride, an experimental 16mm film project that combines archival materials from early Antarctic expeditions with the aesthetics of cinema of attractions, exploring immersive visual experiences of travel films and Antarctic landscapes. As Artistic Director of Fracto Experimental Film Encounter in Berlin, I have extensive experience curating and teaching film practices, found footage, and archival research. My recent works delve into the historical and theoretical exploration of film noir and melodrama, central themes in my films 'Ragtag' and 'Desire,' as well as in my curatorship of "Shadows & Fate: A Noir Retrospective."
