22-year-old singer/songwriter Grete possesses an ingenuity and work ethic that are both equally matched by her determination. Born and raised in Lithuania, Grete started her musical journey at the age of three. She soon started appearing on National TV, competing in International Contests and acting in Musical Theatre. Encouraged by her peers, teachers and family members, at age sixteen she applied to participate in Lithuania’s ‘The Voice’. Gaining the hearts of the audience, she achieved fifth place in the finals. Helped by the most beloved stars of Lithuania and her new connections, she rose to local fame receiving numerous offers to work professionally as a function musician. After spending the majority of her life singing others’ songs, Grete decided that she had more to show, choosing to leave her home country and pursue her career as an original artist. In 2020 she moved to the UK and started studying Popular Music as a Vocalist at Royal Northern College of Music. Influenced by artists like Jazmine Sullivan, The Weeknd and Yebba, she began writing vocally colourful and harmonically intricate songs with strong messages and old R&B references. Learning more and more about the music industry and being a hard working, motivated planner helps Grete continue to build her future as a singer/songwriter. Expanding her repertoire, finding professional collaborators and exploring new vocal qualities is Grete’s main focus now. The artist has successfully released her first EP 'Grey', which is available on all streaming platforms. Grete is set to release her new project in December 2024

    paper Self released EP 'Grey'

Grey serves as the perfect introduction to Grete’s world. The EP is packed with a variety of emotions and sonic palettes, backed by a tight and experienced band that perfectly brings Grete’s visions to life. Each track harmonically guides the listener on a tour of the different experiences Grete details in the lyrics - romantic stories and difficult heartbreaks. Resulting in a visual and visceral project that pulls no punches.
Inspirations for the EP are: MARO’s Hiatus Kaiyote’s and Yebba’s music, jazzy harmonies, playful time signatures and more.
