I am a Front-End Web Developer with 12 years of experience. Most of that experience was at advertising agencies where I brought to life the designs of our Graphic Designers as fully functional custom websites for our clients. As a freelancer, when no designer is available I work with clients to adapt WordPress templates to fit their needs and their needs of their customers.

I worked with the client to adapt a WordPress theme to suit their design needs without involving a designer. I customized the layouts to fit their content and structure requirements and made the content form dynamic to collect the information that the client required to best help potential customers.

Lunar Grove is something of a personal project, an eCommerce site for a candle company I own with a friend. Although I’m not a designer, we didn’t have the budget to hire one so I designed the logo myself with input from my business partner. For the site I found a WordPress template I liked and adjusted it to fit our style. I didn’t write a lot of code for this one, only overrides as needed, but the bulk of the work was and continues to be in managing the products in WooCommerce.

This is another client who was happy with the design of their site but wanted a rebuild in WordPress. I was able to integrate their existing design with parts of a template that I was working on to do a quick and efficient build that the client was very happy with.

Although a small site, the questions section was something that required a lot of research and discussion. I worked closely with the designer and was able to have some design and layout input myself. Randomizing the pet pictures was a small thing I added on my own that the designer and the client loved.

This client was happy with the existing design of their site so I rebuilt it in WordPress using the same layout and making only minor style changes and improvements. Because no designer was involved in this project, I helped source images as well.

I worked closely with the client for this site to come up with custom solutions to meet their unique needs. After the build was complete I continued to work with them on maintenance and content management for the remainder of my time at Compulse, both to add new content to the Inductees section and to help manage the membership behind the scenes.

The single page Order & Chaos site is built in Concrete5 with HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and PHP. Although the site was designed by a web designer I was given a lot of freedom with the animations to play with CSS transitions and find something that fit.

The designer for this site was excited to get to make something a bit out of the ordinary. He wanted a big focus on the shapes and animations and we worked closely to get them doing what he pictured. I always enjoy projects where I get to play with a bit of animation and this was a fun one to work on.

This page was created using the frames of rendered animations. The images change as you scroll down the page, animating without the use of any video files. A preloader makes sure the images are loaded before letting you scroll through them and the navigation shows not only what section you are on, but how far you are in that section.

While another developer built the main Atapco site, we separated out the drastically different history page and I built this interactive timeline. The subtle animations serve only to give depth, focusing on the content rather than flashy, distracting animations.

I was part of the team that built the Royal Building Solutions site and later made updates to the homepage and navigation. The homepage was completely redesigned for a more modern look and uses CSS transitions for animations, something that wasn’t supported enough to use extensively when we built the original site. A unique challenge of the site was the fact that it exists in two languages and everything needed to be double checked that it worked correctly in French as well as English.
