Hi! I'm Jay Wong, a London-based illustrator, director, and animator blending Eastern and Western influences in my work. My style draws from Chinese brush inking and Western pen techniques to tell emotionally driven stories across animation, comics, and live performance. My short film Tête-Bêche was featured in festivals like Alexandria Short Film Festival and Animation Nights New York. In 2021, my comic The Escape evolved into Monsoon Blue, an animated short that won Best Animated Short at the Golden Horse Award in Taiwan, and took home the ASIA Grand Prize and Best Story at DigiCon6 Asia in Japan. In 2023, I released my first graphic novel Tides of Time, which became the basis for my solo exhibition Tides of Time Continues: Interlinked in Hong Kong. The show included a live drawing performance with the experimental quartet Virgin Vacation. My storytelling is inspired by artists like Taiyo Matsumoto and Nicolas De Crécy, with a focus on atmospheric, storyboard-like compositions. I’m always exploring new ways to connect with people through narrative and visual art.
