Hello, I’m Issam Larkat, an Algerian photographer and sociologist by training. My work centers on documentary photography and photojournalism, exploring how places, people, beliefs, social structures, and spaces intersect and shape each other. I’ve contributed to ZAM Magazine and Truth in Photography, Hapax, and collaborated with curators and media platforms on exhibitions around the world. I also participate in international programs such as VII Academy, Nikon-Noor Academy, and Screen Arts School. I strive to tell human stories through images that illuminate social change, culture, and everyday life. Through residencies, masterclasses, and opportunities to present work at global venues, I aim to reveal nuanced perspectives and invite dialogue about our shared world. I am currently based between Stockholm and Relizane, continuing long-term projects like No Algeria For Elders, Relizane: youth out of the focus, and The Subconscious, while developing new bodies of work that connect people, places and beliefs.
